About Demon Soul Simulator:
This is one of the best platformers I’ve played in a long time. It feels like Super Mario 64 meets Banjo Kazooie / Tooie combined with fantastic controls and loads of unique ideas. This feels like a spiritual successor to Super Mario Sunshine. If you’re new to 3D platformers this game can be fun, but you must be patient, try other levels or set other goals if you’re stuck. I find the checkpoint system, which allows you to place checkpoints where you personally need them, really helps make this game never feel frustrating, just challenging. I really hope there’s a sequel in the future. I refunded this game only to buy the XBox version. I just finished the 4th boss, and it’s been so long since I’ve had so much fun on a 3D platformer. I love this game, and I’ll likely buy the Steam version again just to get more levels via the workshop (and to support the fantastic developer more of course). After each of the four worlds you gain a new ability, a grapple that can be used on enemies and a specific platform, its okay but adds nothing to platforming, only making combat a bit more tolerable. Second is a wheel ability which is actually used fairly often but once you do one of these wheel sections they are all the same. Third is the bird glide ability, I actually hate this one, feels inconsistent and is often screwed over by depth perception issues caused by the open space 3d environments, mixed with a 2d character. Last is a time slowdown ability, using it felt more difficult than just going without, granted I haven’t done the 4th world revisit where it is probably used a bit more.
